“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift from God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).
I created A Graceful Space with the intention of it being a space where conversations can take place in an environment that fosters grace.
Anyone who knows me knows that faith is a huge part of my life. While I am aware Christianity is not something that everyone identifies with or actively participates in, I do want people to get a sense of who I am through my blog, and with that comes being exposed to important parts of myself.
I wanted to do this post because around Christmas time, I know there are a lot of conversations about presents and gifts. While I am not against some good holiday gifts, something I find myself especially pondering during the holidays is my belief in what Christmas means to me: celebrating the birth of Jesus.
The gift of grace that this holiday season brings is often one that is overlooked and taken for granted. While I love the classic Christmas settings of trees, lights, ice skating, hot coffee, snow, dirty santa, and other holiday festivities, I have to remind myself what Christmas means to me: Jesus’ gift that surpasses all the rest—grace.
Grace for forgiving me every time I fall short; grace for picking me up when I have fallen; grace for showing me the blessings of life; grace for taking some away; grace for revealing my purpose; grace for turning some plans on their heads; grace for every breath I take:
it’s all of grace.
Although I constantly have to realign myself with this gift of grace everyday, seeing how grace exists here on Earth forces me to recognize how this blessing is the greatest of all.
At the end of the day, when all the superficial entities fade, what’s left is that of grace.
We all are going to make mistakes, and because of that, we all are going to need some saving grace.
Join me in giving each other grace this season, whether that is spiritual or in another means: let’s celebrate this Christmas season with the gift of grace. Moreover, let's accept others for their beliefs and love them for it.
Merry Christmas everyone,
Grace
